Welp... I did it now. Flopped the Taco yesterday while trying to get around a boulder (ironically, to avoid body damage on the driver's side. The curtain airbags deployed and the dog and I got out safely. I killed the engine right away and haven't tried to restart it. I was helpfully pulled out by a trio of jeeps and towed back home before nightfall. All in all, not the worst it could have been.

Given that the airbags alone are $1500+ apiece, I'm going to try my luck with insurance. That said, what should I do and/or make sure they do (especially regarding the engine) since the truck spent four hours on its side?

LOL, should have held the RCSA button before trying to take angles. it stands for rollover side curtain airbags, and holding it for 3 seconds disables them for off-roading.

Edit: I have been informed that this button isn't found on 3rd gens. I just assumed it was and have no clue why they would take the button away. It would have saved OP thousands in damage. It exists on 2nd gens specifically for this reason.

Damn, glad that you and the doggo are Ok. Truck held up good. Is your current suspension set up stiff?(I ask this since the front set up looks on extreme preload for 3” kinda stuff)

If I was in your shoes, I’ll pull the plugs, disconnect remove disable injector circuit and crank it.

I'd let it sit for a day or so then fire it up! But then again, what the hell do I know!

PS: kudos to you for getting out there with your truck. No one can call your rig a mall crawler.

    Carry on!

I’d definitely think about pulling the plugs to make sure there isn't any fluid in the cylinders. Bump it over a few times to get any fluid out that might be in said cylinders.

Did it spill fluid(s) when before you got it rolled back upright? I'd pull the intake tube/throttle body and check to see if it sucked any appreciable amount of oil in. If yes, pull all the plugs and check for fluid in the cylinders. Then check the oil and transmission fluid levels before attemlting to fire it up.

I'm running Bilstein 5100s set for 3" on OME 885s... so it is stiff but I much prefer the ride over stock.

Coolant and washer fluid for sure, lol. I got those all over me while disconnecting the battery (smelled gas after it was on its side so I figured I'd be on the safe side). I haven't seen any indication that I lost any lubricants or hydraulic fluid but I'll top those up for sure. Thanks!

Dude wild photos, I’m sure once you get the engine right it will be fine!

could also chop the top off now that the air bags have deployed and have the first convertible or drop top 3rd Tacoma!!

I agree. His taco front suspension might have very minimal downtravel. Droop is as important as uptravel too. Unfortunately, once lifted at 3 inches our taco will ALMOST have no droop or down travel . That’s why solid axle is king on off camber trails.

Gotcha, this is an unfortunate example of lack of flex due to overload and change of center of gravity at its finest. All fixable man :fistbump:
