    The factory service manual...

I created the u-bolt thread before the FSM came out.
I used 75 ft-lbs because that is what I was accustomed to on my 2nd gen.

52 ft-lbs is perfectly acceptable given correct diameter and thread size/pitch.

I thought it was 83, but I haven't touched mine in a while so I could be wrong. The use of loctite is also part of OP's new problem.

I took my u-bolts off to install Sumo Springs between 15 and 20k miles. I replaced them with new u-bolts from Wheeler off-road around 35k miles. My alignment has been perfect.

I doubt you have anything to worry about.

I might be wrong but I recall the maintenance manual says not to reuse the u bolt nuts. I don’t know if anything bad will happen but since they are easy to do you might want to get 8 new ones.

Aha, the Newton-metre rears its ugly head!

How many folks here have torque wrenches with N*m units? Pretty sure mine’s in ft-lbs.

Edit: I assumed this was a nod to the 70 vice 52 situash.

If the truck drives straight on a flat surface (with no road crown), then no. If it pulls to one side, and nothing else is amiss (like uneven tire pressures), you can take it to a shop for a thrust angle adjustment - basically adjusting front toe to match a crooked rear axle.

Note: I've seen first hand a shop doing more harm than good on an alignment rack. Go only if you notice a problem, not for "peace of mind".

I have a torque wrench in Nm and ft-lbs. I know because I always double check which legend I am looking at when setting the wrench.

U bolt threads are cold rolled and shouldn’t be reused.
