Aftermarket alarm options ?

Did a search, but couldn't find much.. please forgive me if I missed it.

Anyone have an aftermarket alarm / remote start / GPS installed ?


I'm looking at a few options and wanted some other suggestions from the forum.

I was stupid enough to have the dealership install one for me the day i bought my truck because i wanted the keyless entry in my sr. It was $800 and its the KARR brand alarm and keyless entry system. It works fine but i've only had my truck for 2 months and one of the key fobs already doesn't work. I'd stay away from that brand if I were you.

 

Your fobs aren't covered under any sort of warranty ?

Was looking at Clifford. Specifically the 5706x plus GPS. Not familiar with KARR.

 

It is I'm sure, it's just I work a lot and one fob still works so I've been to lazy to try and deal with it lol ... Ya I wish I had waited and done some research but it was just the one the dealership offered to throw in for a "discount" . Once you decide and do the install I'm curious to see how it goes, I'm hoping to get remote start installed in the future.

I have a Directed DS4+ in mine. works well. I'm in the trade.

 

A large pissed off dog will work.

 

I went with the Clifford 5706x with glass break / tilt sensors.

The only bummer is that the remote start turns off when i open the door.

From what I understand, that has to do with Toyota / Lexus and the takeover process, or lack thereof.

I like that you can start / lock & unlock from you phone.

 

Was that system plug and play
Just got my truck and dealer is trying to sell me their alarm.
They are say that someone can break in and Hotwire the truck but I thought computer wouldn’t let it start without key fob.

 

As far as I know, it was not plug and play.
