So you can now buy bluetooth temperature sensors that are weatherproof and run off a mercury battery and you can get phone apps that allow you to read and display the gauge. The combo might be an OK way of getting outside temperature without resortingto, installing and wiring sensors and mirrors; but, better yet...

Does anyone know if there are aftermarket (or OEM) apps for the bluetooth enabled Tacoma radios that would allow the radio to pick up and display the bluetooth temperature sensor?

    Thanks

Curious to see what people have to say.
What year is your truck? The mirror mod is simple and takes 1hour tops.

Thanks it is a 2015 I think that the wiring is there in the roof console. Not sure about the temperature gauge and really do not want to wire it (or maybe am not capable of doing it neatly) up the roof pillar. Am interested to know what you did for your mirror mod. Did it include running cable for the temperature gauge?

I had to run the wire for the temp sensor.
    It's super easy.
Other than that it's straight plug and play.

If you had a phone app and used an aftermarket radio with something like Appleplay or the Android equivalent that allowed mirroring of the phone display to the deck, you would effectively have the same thing. Personally I would just like it in the mirror like stock, so I can just glance at it without messing with the deck to run an app.
