    Greetings:

The rear bumper on my '00 single cab farm truck was rotted out a few years ago, so I bought a new one on ebay. It was $200+ and a good fit. Fast forward to last month when I backed into a tree while getting out of unplowed snow and wrecked that nice bumper. Got on ebay and bought a new one for $90, shipped.

In comparison, the new one is very light weight. I put in on anyway and then ordered another of the better version I got years prior for when my '03 daily needs a new one (tariffs are going to raise the price so why not buy now..?).

All assembled, the better version weights 42 lbs. The cheap version assembled weighs 26 lbs. In other words, the better version has 61% more steel. The lightweight one isn't great to get rear ended with, not tow from bumper hitch, etc.

The links are below. Nothing on ebay suggests quality difference other than price.

When I take the genuine Toyota bumper off my daily I'll update it's weight, but I expect it to be in the 40-45lb range. The steel appears similar in thickness to the better version.

The better more $$ 42 lb. bumper:

The cheaper cheap $$ 26 lb bumper:

Good post, I have ordered several different parts for different vehicles from that Evan Fischer seller and have had no bad experiences. FWIW

How was the more expensive bumper in regards to rust on the backside when you took it off?

I Waxoyled the inside of the bumper when I installed it in 2021. I only did the one coat in so there was a tiny bit of rust. But considering it went through four NY/VT winters it looked good. It's perfect on the chrome side - zero rust. I would have hit the inside again with Waxoyl this year had I not wrecked it.

I replaced my back bumper over 10 years ago after I backed into a tree. I bought a new one and had it delivered for around $100. It weighed pretty much the same as the dented bumper and came with back-up lights. I also replaced the steel bars (or whatever they're called) between the bumper and the frame.
Then a couple months later like an idiot I backed into another tree... :annoyed:
