I am working on my HID retrofit and have everything figured out except for what DRL module to run for my Halos (going to do turbine shrouds with front and rear switchbacks).

I only want the Halos to function as DRLs and not the turn signal as with the OEM DRL. Therefore I'm thinking an aftermarket DRL controller would work better than adding the OEM and then somehow trying to disable the turn signal DRL.

Can anybody recommend a good aftermarket DRL module?

I'm not aware of a module for this application. But if you want to do this conventionally and retain the OE DRL switch, you could probably use a OFF Time Delay Relay?

This would hold the DRL's ON while the blinkers are flashing. There will be a side affect - The DRL's will stay on for a few seconds after turning them OFF.

If you prefer, another option would be to abandon the OE DRL system all together. You would simply need to tap an accessory circuit for control. Your DRL's would be ON anytime the key was ON.

I think you misunderstood what I meant when i said "Halos to function as DRLs and not the turn signal" I meant I didn't want to enable the turn signal bulb as DRL like in the factory installation to avoid melting my lenses (poorly worded on my part). I DO plan utilizing the switchback halos as turn signals.

I think I've got a plan to just skip the OE DRL all together (my truck doesn't have OE drl anyway). This method should give me exactly what I want for $20 opposed to $70 to install the OE system just to disable it and only use it for a trigger. I Just ordered this from Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.com/Mobilistics-...1_7?keywords=DRL+MODULE&qid=1572021641&sr=8-7

I'm going to tap into a keyed accessory circuit with an add a fuse for power since LED halos draw so little current. Then tap my EFI fuse for the switched trigger so they only run when the engine is running and attach the parking brake and low beam triggers.

This should give my Halos DRL functionality that only runs when the engine is running, using the keyed power opposed to straight from my fuse block will prevent the halos from coming on when the truck is off and the fuel system runs its periodic diagnostics (which is a common complaint about tapping the EFI fuse), and then the parking brake and low beam triggers will turn the halos off when my headlights are on or when the brake is engaged.

I'll report back once I get it wired up and tested next week.
