I'm considering purchasing a 2nd gen that does not have any of the hands free phone call controls/receiver/etc. What are my options for providing that feature via aftermarket components? I'm planning to add a new Bluetooth receiver regardless. I'm kinda hoping there is a out of the box solution for this.

I have an Alpine head unit.Calls work great .Bluetooth and navigation. It is about 6 years old so I assume that the newer ones are available with Apple car play which would be even better for me.

pretty much any bluetooth head unit does hands free calls these days so any one would be an out of the box solution. They usually come with a microphone, I mounted mine behind the rearview mirror in the center of my windshield.

My Kenwood Carplay unit works great and is much more user friendly than the OEM toyota junk that came in 2nd gens, etune or whatever it was called.
