Finally got a 3D printer to play with between jobs... updated shift collar boot still need some finishing touches but it does work as is. Will upload the stl file and gcode for pla with supports soon. In the meantime... enjoy.

@duckytw damn now thats nice, can you get it flush with the collar? i did the rubber grommet when i first got the truck but i haven't figured out how to make it flush without just trimming out the entire bottom end so i'm basically left with a 1/8th inch of rubber that is squishy and thin super annoying...great job by the way

Yep working on it-- first thing that bugged me too. Im not sure if its just my truck but the thing is ever so slightly off-center, so I did get it to the right diameter + inner o-ring seal/grips, just now trying to correct the eccentricity.

Nice! I tried your previous version, but it didn't work out. Sorry, I can't remember why. I was able to get a print with supports, but I don't think it engaged?

Honestly, I don't think you need the o-rings if matches the taper of the shaft?

Awesome! I was hoping someone with a 3D printer would tackle this. I'm done for one once you bring the top down a little bit, assuming you're planning on selling. What shift knob is that? Looks like it exactly what I want..

I think it is a black version of this:
    https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-Accessories-PTR26-35060-6-Speed/dp/B00547ITSE

For me, I'm not a fan of shiny. So, @7r41lbr34k3r is making me a nice plain, delrin version of that. It will be similar to the printed one that I'm using, but much nicer:

I bet that Rick could do the shift pattern on a delrin ball?

Oh nice, I missed that thread. Maybe I'll watch their for availability, might be the easier option since I don't have a knob I'm already attached to. Thanks.

No problem. I don't know if the delrin knob in that OP is shaped and mates with the boot or a pure round one. The one coming my way is round. I like the feel of that more then one that I printed with a boss at the bottom.

You might have to ping Rick about that? Although, it seems that he changed up his policy after the antiseize thread.

Picture in the OP(my thread) is a hybrid knob. Here is a side shot.

Not sure if this helps you at this stage, but this is how I began my design process.

I made a bushing and kept boring it out until the retainer fit inside of it. Ended up being about 1.125" diameter. As you can see, the top and bottom touch the diameter, and the side lugs are a little smaller.

I probably should address this as well.

The anti-seize thread didn't really shape policy for custom stuff. All it did was make me super paranoid.

I'm really just doing my best to comply with site rules with regard to non-vendors. Folks like you who have presence on here, I do not mind taking chances on. I haven't been disappointed yet, and the money has always been waiting for me at completion. A new member, or somebody without reputation on here ... yeahhh probably not going to take the chance there.

A friend recently gave me the idea to set up a website for doing full blown pre-paid custom work, which would work pretty well. If I did that on TW I would probably get banned immediately. Not sure how I would advertise the website, might be frowned upon as well.

I am also a single person, and not a company who can back me up in my absence. It pains me to think about people getting screwed over if anything suddenly happened to me. I won't let that stand in my way, but it should be digested by anyone wanting product from me. This is precisely why the site rules are the way they are, to protect the buyer ... and they are very fair.

Everybody on here who has purchased from me has my personal email address, just thought I would throw that out there ... for absolutely no reason at all.

Thanks everyone-- here is the final design that worked for me and Ill answer all these comments later tonight. Included is the .stl and g-code for PLA. 2x o-rings are 3/4 x 1/2 x 1/8" from home depot $0.63 ea.

comments-- @tonered Yep the earlier versions were for some reason too thick even though I pulled them straight off a TRD shift knob that fit perfect. Im thinking the actual knob had a bit of "give" that would really lock tight while the 3d prints are more brittle and stiffer. O-rings just help the thing stay on-- even if perfectly printed, the shifter gets enough movement that I would fear the plastic rattling loose after a while and I also don't like the plastic *potentially* scuffing up the finish on the shifter. With just 1 o-ring tightly seated, you need pliers to twist this boot-holder cap off-- (I havent tried it with 2 o-rings yet!).

@ctmedic -- Ill see if I get around to making the diameter larger so it can drop more. Shouldn't be too hard, but then again, I start getting forgetful to measure :D. -- scratch that, see V4L just for you-- I have not tried this one at all though so it may or may not work perfectly) Knob is from the stock 07 I think TRD FJ cruiser.

@7r41lbr34k3r -- you are a god among men making these things from metal! Yep, probably would have been easier that way and what got me a while back was the fact that toyota purposefully made this super complicated piece on the collar that was eccentric which really didnt have to be! But anyways, yep, I pulled dimensions straight from the knob and ended up chopping up the bottom in cad until it finally clicked-- I think 0.04" shorter lugs compared to the oem knob.

Anyways, if anyone wants to try these files out, have at it... V4 has the center hole 0.8mm and 30 deg off true center (thats the one I used-- very slight misalignment possible, but almost imperceptible). V3 has the center hole at the center which gave me a slight mis-alignment by the 0.8mm, so Id try V4. V4L is the ctmedic request and is completely untested. Same slight eccentricity as V4, but the inner hole is larger diameter taper so it *should* sit lower, no guarantees if it will or how it will fit though.

Got this off amazAm for $25. It's a genuine Toyota product intended for a Lexus (I believe). It's a tad smaller than I'd like, but once I drove with it some, I really like it. Definitely like the looks better than stock knob!

    Thanks, ducky!

    I didn't see this post.

I'm away from the printers for while. I will give this a shot as soon as I can. It looks great in your pics.
