Did you say cutting? They look fine after a little trimming.

Is this a 3rd gen bumper? Did they cut and glue it back together or what?

It's a 5th gen 4Runner bumper. To install the ARB I had to cut the front valance. You can see it back on the 4Runner before I put the ARB bar on.

I'm fairly certain ARB is already working on one.

One thing I've noticed people mention about the 3rd gen's is the space between the radiator and the actual "bumper" or valence. It's the same on the 5th gen 4Runners. There a plastic cover that goes over it that can be removed. I was surprised with the space there and how easy it is to get back there and wire up a winch.

Look under the headlight in my picture, it's not a straight line either. With frame flex and the distance between the mounting point on the frame and where the ARB sits you need to leave a 3/4" gap or else the ARB will contact the fender when the frame flexes. There's little snaps that will hold the section in if its cut right.

ok but there is still a part that is straight. the 3rd gen bumper meets the fender like this \. yours is more like this \_. Im just saying is its not going to look like the plate bumpers we are all used too. It wont have a staright flat top unless cutting is involved and the ends will be cut like this \

I also forgot to mention the fender flare is one piece not 2. So it will have to be cut, or replaced with a shorter one.

    None needed.
Ladies, PLEASE! The front of this truck is fine. If you want a small cute grill, buy a small cute truck. I understand most of you aren’t use to big equipment; this is your chance to know what it’s like.

If some of you think that the new front end is ugly? Just wait until some add after market ones. It will be better if they just shave its ass and drive it back wards when there done.

The new Tacoma's front end will take a bit to make a bumper work, but it is similar in concept to how the 2014+ Tundra and 2010+ 4Runner are. The hardest part will be dealing with the grille, being so large and clipping right into the bumper. The bumper cover and flare will likely need to be cut just like the 4Runner, and the bumper should meet with the fender like it does on the Tundra, however the grille comes quite low, which will definitely limit how high the aftermarket bumpers come up, unless they wrap around it or replace the grille altogether.

Either way, wait for a bit and see what comes out. I'm sure we'll see a few bad implementations and at least one or two nice ones.

I'm willing to bet that you'll need to cut the grill. By the looks of it, it'll make making a flat surface plate bumper difficult without cutting the grill. In October when I'm back up in Seattle I'll swing by ARB and see if they've got anything in the works.

Meh, if you look at the numbers what percent of people will modify it to the extent we do? Of all the Tacomas on TW how many have gone with a plate number? I doubt Toyota will make a significant design change to make aftermarket bumper options more viable.

It does remind me of the fat lip bumpers on the 3rd gen 4Runners
