    Hello everyone, first post here!

I just got a 2012 Tacoma double cab with factory keyless entry along with another key fob for an aftermarket remote starter/keyless entry. The factory key fob makes the Toyota lock/unlock notification beep along with the lights flashing and the aftermarket key fob doesn't beep but flashes the lights. It's a Code-Alarm by Audiovox. Their website says to turn the notification sound/chirp on or off you put the key in the ignition in the on position and hit the valet button 3 times. It doesn't work. I would like to use only the aftermarket key fob because it does everything the factory key fob does plus it starts the car. I would like to get that little beep telling me when the car is locked and unlocked instead of just the flashing lights. I called customer support and the guy pretty much said it doesn't beep because it's aftermarket. I find that strange that it won't beep but still flashes the lights when locked/unlocked. I would think they are both connected to the same thing. Anyone else experience this?

Dumb question, but have you confirmed the horn works on the alarm?

I have a Viper alarm on mine and while I'm sure I could turn on/off the chirp, it comes directly from the alarm horn, not a separate beeper like the OEM unit.

The Code-Alarm is just remote starter and keyless entry. I'm not looking for the horn to sound, I'm just wondering why it doesn't do the beep beep when you unlock and the beep when you lock like the Toyota factory keyless entry does. The lights just flash as a notification.

The unit should still have a horn/beeper somewhere in the bay. I highly doubt it would tie into the OEM beeper.

Rick8325, do you by chance know what wire they connected to to be able to have the lights flash as confirmation lights for lock and unlock? I installed a remote starter and can't figure out which wire from the Tacoma to connect to for that

About 3 years ago I had a Compustar Alam/remote started installed on my truck. I also had the "DRONE" installed with the IPhone App. If my truck is parked in the street in New York City and I'm sitting on my couch in AZ, I can check how hot it is, what my battery voltage is, lock or unlock my doors and start and shutdown the truck, all this from the Drone App on my IPhone whilst sitting on my couch. I can even locate exactly where my truck is and get turn-by-turn instructions on how to find it. That's about as cool as it gets folks
