    UPDATE:
Got the aftermarket plate in, but there was an issue as you can see by the pictures. One of the weld broke on one side and the other looked cracked. I don’t know if the metal was not bent enough and the stress cracked it or it was a bad weld or someone dropped it. I still think they are a good option if you don’t want to spend $440 (quoted from local dealer, that also might be w/o tax). Anyway, it is being sent back and I am going to put the money towards lights. I may look into this at a later time.

I did look at pictures of the TRD plate and the weld areas look the same. The weld on both only looks to be on one side of the seam and not both. The aftermarket plate is a little rough and looks to be painted in a primer where as the TRD has a nicer finished look to it. The aftermarket has some weight to it and is a 1/4” thick.

    Damn that sucks .

If you can wait a little bit , I will have my OEM Pro one for sale once I get my full skids. Only thing is it that it’s bedlined. I’m located in Bluffton, SC but go to Savannah all the time so we could meet up and not worry about shipping.

if you buy from eBay, from broken weld you can get 50% discounts.
I bought a DV8 bumper from eBay, I got 60bucks off because the relocation bracket hold too small for the factory bolt.

    Yes.
I think the one I had was not bent enough which stressed the weld. Then it popped or was dropped and broke

Was looking for some feedback on these Amazon versions of the TRD aluminum skid plate. Personally, with these being of somewhat questionable quality and their prices now up in the high 200's, I think I'm better off with a $350 RCI skidplate. (with a discount currently that covers shipping pretty much).

I found lots of aftermarket Tacoma stuffs on Amazon (Chinese’s made ) NOT worth buying! Most are cheap copies.

I have RCI skid plates - Quality ,Quality & worth buying.

Remember you only want to buy these once’s. Permanent aftermarket parts always buy name brands and research every company. Good luck always …Happy New Year!

We have a beefy front skid plate that installs very nicely with our transmission skid plate/cat plate. Someday I need to get better photos with the oil door installed, and my nasty handprints wiped off.

We are a little different, where most people use tubing welded onto the plate as vertical spacers, we use a massive bracket that spans almost the entire width of the plate. This adds a little weight but makes the plate WAY stronger especially at the break over point which is going to take some hits. Think about laying a 2x6 flat and stepping on the middle of it and feeling the springiness of it, VS laying it on edge and stepping on it. Same concept we use. Besides the vertical bent flanges on the plate, the bracket also layers the aluminum in this vulnerable area to be 1/2" thick.

This is an example of the bracket on the F-150, because I just happened to have it up and can get cleaner at the angles, I want images of it. The Tacoma is very similar in concept but looks very different due to design necessities and I showed a picture of that bracket below too.

We are also looking at add steel to our lineup soon on the front skid plates, and have started with the transmission plates.
