Hello! My name is Jen, and I just purchased my first tacoma! It is a 2009 TRD Sport Double Cab and I would like to buy a shallow subwoofer and amp to install. Has anyone here installed any aftermarket audio equipment in their double cab? If so, what do you have and where in the world did you put it! My only concern is the lack of space! If anyone has any pictures that would be great! Thanks so much! :D

Thanks so much! I am taking it in soon to get a few different places to work at. Lucky for me I used to work for the largest audio distributor in my area, so I know a few people. :) Hopefully that will come in handy!

Although the price of a custom box stinks, it's prob. my only option...

    Welcome from the Tidewater area!

I'd go with a 10'' like Oakley said.

    Thank you! :)

Yeah I like the 10"s.. I had two Kicker 10"s in my 4Runner but they are not shallow so there is no freaking way they would fit in my new Taco..

Now that his picture loaded I am concerned again. I have the 09' truck and I really don't think there is space like that when the seats are folded down. They are flush with the back wall of the cab...

Won't that affect the resale value negatively? Is there anywhere else I could put them? I really don't think I would need two subs... What about under the driver/passenger seat or somewhere in the door panels.. that may sound stupid but where did they hide the subs for the JBL audio package?

The plastic is only held in by a few screws. You could always put it back in later.

I hear good things bout the pioneer shallows and even more bout the JL. I plan on getting the jl 13.5 one day.

If u really don't want to remove the plastic check out JL they make a stealth box with there W1 series woofer. It has 2 10s and sits inside the plastic box behind the seat. It's kinda pricey though compared to what the price of the speakers are without the box. But pricey is going to be case anytime u mess with boxes made by the company that the speaker comes from.

That is very true. Now, besides the money I am worried about keeping my stock CD player.. will I have to install an aftermarket CD player, or that one thing I just read about that improves the OEM of the stock CD player.. cant remember what its called now...

    EDIT: Here it is..
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136441DSP/JL-Audio-CL441dsp-CleanSweep.html?search=clean+sweep&tp=6870

SOOOO now what I am wondering is just how dead I would be if I used a student loan to get this stuff.. HAHAHA my mom would kill me

you might get some good ideas in the audio video sub forum. just a thought. Its all the same people, but some techies usually spend most of their time there

I've never seen this thing but Ima do some research on it.

I was going to say it's best to just change the radio. Cause if u go the cheap route there is connector that splices into the regular speaker wire and makes an aux output but I've erad these before and the sub tends to play words along with the bass lines.

eeweee. that sounds gross. But that is not cheap by any means (imho), its running about 300$ just for the equipment to improve the stock cd player.. I have the 6changer in my TRD and don't want to take it out.
