Looking for feedback from anyone that has had an aftermarket sunroof installed in their truck. A guy I used to work with had one installed by Toyota in his FJ and he loved it but mentioned that it whistled from time to time. I have done some research online and have read Two Tall's review on here about his, just wanted to see if anyone else had comments.

Missing the feeling of cruising with the wind in my hair :burnrubber:

    Thanks!

I have looked into it, but i am single cab so I could only have a moon roof, so I decided not to do it. Webasto seems to be the best, they send people to training before letting them be a dealer or installer. That way Shaky Mike, who lives over on Meth Street, isn't cutting on your roof with tin snips for 7 dollars an hour.

Spring 1984 bought new Nissan 720 KC on a Wednesday then watched a dude plunge cut a hole in my roof Friday by noon. It was excellent. Go for it

Personally, I wouldn't trust a hole cut into my truck that wasn't done so at the time of manufacturing. I've seen far too many aftermarket sunroofs have leaks and malfunctions. Also, I highly doubt a Toyota dealer installed your friend's sunroof. They would have sublet that out to an aftermarket accessory company. (Basing this on 12+ years of working at a Toyota dealership's collision center)

I would love a full glass roof for my double cab. My buddy’s new f250 has one and that is tits. So does the fiancés evoque. Would love it for the taco.

We've dealt with handfuls of customers that had an aftermarket one installed from whatever dealer they bought it from and years later when it leaked, they had no way of contacting the installing company for warranty/repairs and were S.O.L.

Came to say exactly this, if you ever have an issue with it you'll be crossing your fingers that the company that made it and the guys who installed it are still in business.

That said, there can always be a fix for anything if you have enough time and knowhow.

I got the cheapest $300 pop up glass sun roof and it was a pleasure for the 10 years I had it. The rubber gasket had a molded lip and it never leaked on me (unless the roof was open during very heavy rain) but ya, it was great and surprisingly no trouble and so nice with it out completely

Fair enough I am getting the run around at work. Our Mercedes Sprinter was converted by a company who has changed hands 3 or 4 times since 2014. Get someone to return my calls let alone provide info is a nightmare.

Most of what I say is out of fear of leaks, I had an '85 XR4Ti with a sunroof that leaked in heavy rain, and holy crap I never want to deal with that again. In that case the sunroof drains were clogged and once I cleaned them I was fine.

Outfitters/Upfitters for chassis vans like that are difficult no matter what, you never know if you're supposed to call the MB dealer or the guys who converted it.

Again, anything can be fixed if it were to develop a leak or something, but it's also one of those things that you can't easily undo.

Thinking back my parents had a leak from their factory installed sunroof in a 2003 Suburban, don't think I'm comfortable chancing it.

    Thanks for the input everyone!

I had one installed in my 2014 and no issues after 2 years. The installer did a great job with the overhead console by making it all look stock. Slight wind on the highway that goes away if I slide the inside lid closed. On another note, we got a dealer installed sunroof on my wife's highlander and 8 years later no issues at all.

I have that same one. Had someone do it through the Webasto company. Love the chance to have it open and it looks like it is stock. On highway it has a little noise, but like you said closing the lid and its gone.

I want to say when mine was done on a double cab it was around 1500

Just bought it, but it's been lifted and who knows what else has been crappily done before I got it. It's going to be a project for sure... but it's my daily driver too.
Are you still happy with the work done? Also, can you name drop? I'm in Fort Payne, AL... so not too far.
