Aftermarket Sunroof 2012 Tacoma

    Sunroofs leak, have wind noise, reduce headliner room, and add weight up high in the vehicle in the form of glass and bracketry in the last place you want to be adding weight, all for very little benefit if any.
    They also increase heat absorption.
    Not to mention the difference between a tilt-only roof like an old (E36?) BMW, or one with a long frame inside that tucks in/retracts backwards.
    It also gives up some torsional rigidity of the vehicle.

    In most cars, having no sunroof is usually rare and desireable, being rarely allowed/optioned by the manufacturer.

    Another good mod that is similar but faster and cheaper would be to remove the headlights for improved night driving.

    I had one of those pop-up sunroofs in my 80 Camaro. It never leaked the whole time l owned it. But it wasn't fancy by any means either.

    I don't even know if they make those kind, anymore?
