I just bought an 06 TRD Sport from a coworker and there is a rocker switch on the dash with 3 wires going into it. When turned on it lights up the ABS light and the differential lock light, even though there is no diff lock on the truck. Any ideas as to what this does aside from deactivating ABS? Does anyone know if there is a specific thread for that mod? I’ve seen a few threads about the yellow wire mod and an ABS kill switch one, but nothing that causes the diff lock light to turn on in a TRD Sport model. My coworker said it turns off the LSD, but with it on and off, in 2wd and 4wd, both rear wheels still spin at the same time in dirt. I’m not too sure what else it would do.

Sounds like it's a switch to disable the ABS.

Yeah I know it disables the ABS and I’ve read the YWM threads, just want to know why it lights up the light for a diff lock when this truck doesn’t have one

I’m definitely no expert with differentials and aftermarket wiring, but I’m assuming if it had a locker in it there would be an actuator and some wires attached to the rear diff aside from just the ABS sensor wires right?

Most likely because of how they have it wired, even if the truck doesn't have a diff lock the indicator light is still there.

I can draw and post the diagram later to explain.

Factory E-Locker looks like this, it's only available on TRD OffRoad and TRD Pro (2015+) models.
Unless someone did an axle swap/added a locker your TRD Sport doesn't have one.

I sketched this up, this is how the Diff Lock Indicator is wired. We have Connector DB Pins 7 & 14 and DD Pins 4 & 12 connected together through J/B No 1.

Assuming this is not a TRD OffRoad DB Pin 14 goes to the Combination Meter (Instrument Cluster) Diff Lock Indicator Light, DD Pin 4 goes to Ignition Power from the IG1 No 2 Fuse, DD Pin 12 goes to the Skid Control ECU (ABS Module) thus keeping that wire at battery voltage.

Now if we cut the wire here and put a SPDT switch in like this when we turn the switch on DD pin 4 would be grounded, this signals to the ABS that the diff is locked (which disables ABS and turns on the ABS light) and also turns on the diff lock light.

09 Diff Lock Indicator with switch 1.jpg

Now if we were to instead cut the wire and install the switch here we would still signal to the ABS module the diff is locked but we wouldn't turn on the diff lock light.

Thank you, that was very helpful in understanding this setup. I think he just wired it the way that it turns the diff lock light on. The only apparent function I have found is disabling the ABS. Again, I appreciate the help!
