I just bought my TRD off-road and have started down the rabbit hole of blacking everything out on the exterior, and part of that was replacing the silver Toyota letters in the existing TRD pro style grill. I bought replacement letters that individually screw in place, like most options, however when I went to change them out I realized that my Toyota badging is a one piece panel and the letters don’t come off. I should also note that I couldn’t find any markings on the inside that would give me any indication.

My question is does anyone know what brand of grill this is so I can order the correct blacked out replacement?

Why not paint the letters black your self . Cheaper and you don’t have to chase anything down

Might be my only option, but I haven’t plasti dipped or painted any car parts before so I was concerned with longevity.

I wouldn’t use dip, i would scuff it , clean with alcohol , and paint it . You can even put a coat of satin clear coat .it should hold up fine if you do right.

I ordered knock off grille with screw on letters that I did not think screws were adequate, so I used a toothpick and some jb weld where the letters touched the back of the frame. I also put some jb in the screw holes, so they aren’t coming off. I ordered letters that matched my gray Tacoma. If I want blackout or touch up, I’ll just tape, sand, prime and paint. If I change mind on grille, plenty of cheap knock offs in various styles out there. Painting the letters should work for your needs. If you do it right, nobody would know.

I third the "paint job" solution... Flatten a couple of those Amazon shipping boxes everybody has laying around to use for masking behind the grille and spray that thang...

You could also order the TRD Lift Kit Grille. Its all black. If you look at my picture you'll see what it looks like.

Did you check to see if the silver letter portion isn’t just held on with 3m tape. I’ve seen a few down that way.

I used the screwed letters and they've stayed in-place since Aug/2022.

I ordered gray letters and Smoked Amber Lights.

I added the 3-stripe thingy and I like how it's turned out.

When I painted mine, i had to mask around the letters. I did everything to color match, except the honeycomb grille. Was a lot of work but it stands out.

That's a glossy effect...matches the color of your truck.

I just installed Tacoma Troop's blacked out basic version. Good quality, easy install. The Toyota emblem screws in to the grill.

    Good morning.

Is the emblem one piece or is it individual letters?

EDIT: I saw your post today on another thread with pic. (10:03am)

I think the pro grille insert from Taco Vinyl should work for you

It's a one piece emblem, not individual letters. Good quality. Screws in on the backside with four screws.
