What’s my best option? Is it to reuse this harness on the factory tweeter? F506FEB6-5B59-4A17-9EB0-63FBE86ACE16.jpg

Does anyone have experience wiring 2nd gen tweeters, I couldn’t find a lot of good info on it. I will make a plastic housing for the tweeter, just curious about the wiring.Thank you

Just splice the factory connector onto the new one.

Haven’t done wiring in a while, last wiring I did was house electrical wiring. Would you use a wire nut for the connection?

I made a flat bar of aluminum with a center hole to mount my pioneer tweeters to, I chopped the factory harness and used that.

DO NOTE. that the polarity of the stock tweeter is REVERSED. that is, on that lil harness that goes to the tweeter, the black is positive and red is negative. (Just follow the wires back to the main harness and you will understand what im talking about) I have been told that this was (on the stock system) to create a "larger sound space". When i put in my aftermarket door speakers and aftermarket tweeters I wired them up with positives all together like you normally would.

    Proper crimp connector

It will be backwards. But double check. Follow the positive and negative from the door harness side (the non black and red wires) and disregard the colors on the stock tweeter side harness and hook them up properly to the positive n negative of the aftermarket tweeter.

Solder the two wires together with heat shrink over the top of each. No way on wire nuts.

The tweeters sound terrible as do the 6.5 speakers I installed in the front. There is a lot of static sound coming out with the music. Huge headache because I’ve had my doors apart for two days trying to get these speakers to fit. First thing was the bracket I got off Amazon was advertised incorrectly so it didn’t fit my 6.5 in the 6x9 so I made my own bracket and used a wiring harness to attach but still sounds static. The tweeter sounds absolutely awful, I am very disappointed.

I was trying to do it on a budget but I might have to buy the Subaru tweeter and better 6x9 speakers for doors. What a money pit

Hold on let me find my post. I did pioneer 6x9's 3 ways up front, pioneer tweeters up front, and 6.5 3 ways in the back, adapters for the door and harness adapters to make everything essentially plug and play and things sound great.

EDIT, here it is. Everything bolted in great. maybe 150 bucks in total at most

FYI, went to the hardware store and got some small machine screws and nylock nuts to attach the speakers to the adapters properly rather than the junky stock mounting hardware they give ya with the speakers.

Thank you very much guys, I am still very confused about the tweeter wiring negative positive. Using the default harness do I wire black to red and red to black? I haven’t messed around with any blue or pink wires

Do you have a wiring diagram of what is what (as far as positive and negative color wise) for the main speakers on the door harness. If so follow the positive on the door harness side to the connector for the tweeter, im 99% sure that the positive on the door harness side goes to the black of the lil tweeter harness. Double check me.

But if thats the case id recommend taking the stock tweeter harness and going black of the harness to positive of the aftermarket tweeter.

Look at my thread, it tells you what colors are positive and which are negative. I also include what factory wiring harnesses you can use to make everything plug and play as well as which adapters to use. You’ll be better off investing in a nice set of components. The subaru tweeter upgrade is for 3rd gens only I believe.

I am missing the point of the crossovers, I’m not sure why you have them.

Cross over is there to chop out the lows that the tweeter cant produce. FYI the pioneer tweeters i linked to have a built in crossover so you can wire them directly in. (And like stated i did a simple easy piece of alumnium to mount them in the stock locations of the door.

They separate the highs from the mids/lows to keep the highs in the tweeter and lows/mids in the woofer.

Pull the black sheeth off of the tweeter side harness. There are 2 blacks and 2 reds off the grey plug. Make sure to attach both of the matching colors off the grey plug otherwise you wont get any signal to the main speaker.
