    Hi All,

New to the forum. Glad to be a part of your group!

I have a wheel question. I have a 2013 TRD Off Road. I want to stay with the stock suspension, not looking to lift. I’m going to go with Duratrac 265/70/17s. I’ve had great experience with them on multiple vehicles. From what I understand, this size should fit with minimal to no rubbing. I have removed front mud flaps and wind deflectors. I currently have 245/70/17s on my Taco with nearly 80k on them.

I’m having a difficult time finding a wheel, that I like, that will fit in regards to bolt pattern, backspacing and width. I wanted the Black Rhino Armory wheel, but I’m told that they only have it in 9.5 width, and that will rub badly with this tire and wheel combo.

Any suggestions for what width is best to run on my Tacoma with the 265/70/17 Duratrac? I’m thinking 8 or 8.5? Also, any suggestions on a nice, non glossy, black wheel that may be a better fit? I’m a fan of the Black Rhino Armory and Garrison. I like more coverage, less open space. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Why not the 16x8 version of the Black Rhino Armory and a 265/75R16 Duratrac?

I was under the impression that a 16” wheel wouldn’t clear the brakes for my vehicle. I would be open to that setup, if it will fit on my 2013. I’ve been told by a few people, that I may have to stay with a 17” wheel.

Do you drive a 4Runner? Or have you installed 4Runner brakes on your truck? Tacoma TRD Off Roads come from the factory with 16" wheels.

Thank you for the help. My stock wheels were taken off at time of purchase. They were sold to a friend right at the dealer. I had my wheel and tire setup, from a previous vehicle, put right on. I had Moto Metal Skull wheels 17” with the 245/70/17 Duratracs put right on.

So if I was to go with a 16x8 wheel, which I would be perfectly happy with, what is the largest Duratrac that I should be able to fit without rubbing? 265/70/16? Seems like that would be the option.

If you look at the specs page for the tire you I tend to purchase you can see all the info about them. 265/75R16 is the same outside diameter as the 265/70R17 you mentioned in your first post.

I put 265/75/16 Toyos on mine, that's a touch bigger than stock. I had to remove the little mudflap in front of the front tire because it rubbed. Not sure how much bigger you can go without issues.

That size should be perfect for what I want. I have removed the front mud flaps and that little flap in front of the tire as well. Thank you.
