My truck has started intermittently vibrating when accelerating. The best I can describe it is when I was learning how to drive a manual. If you get it in the wrong gear it would start to vibrate. It doesn't seem to be related to the transmission shifting gears and only when accelerating. It also does it when ETC on and in 4WD - high. It also only does it after warming up.

I searched and some said replacing the ATF is a fix, OV Tune is a fix or a $2500 TBS fixes it.

Any of you folks have any experience with this?

I don’t have anything really good to offer, but maybe it’s related to the fuel pump. Check out the recall and see if your truck is listed. Either way, good luck!

If your lifted the driveshaft angles could be messed up and you might need a spacer on the carrier bearing.

Considering you mentioned it happens in 4WD, any chance you're off-roading when you feel the vibration, or your wheels are slipping?

I was just using FWD - high for the snow we had here in Dallas. I just dropped it off at Rockwall Toyota.

No lift on the truck, but thanks for the info!

I'm just wondering if the vibration is caused from your wheels slipping and causing wheel hop or axle wrap. Does it happen on dry pavement?

Also you mention being in the wrong gear, you could be at too low of an RPM for your speed and the truck will "lug" causing a vibration.

Do any lights come on at all? It could be traction control kicking in from too much acceleration. Snow isn't like dirt so it's much easier to slip, especially if it is slushy snow.

Considering things that might bind (or want to bind) under load...check the condition of your driveshaft center support bearing/bushing. Other possibilities are U-joints or inner front CV joints.

No lights, it started happening before the snow so it'll do it on dry pavement. It's pretty aggressive and happens only when accelerating. Not tied to any certain speed, happens on residential and highway only after the truck has warmed up.

"Under a load" make one think clutches/bands are slipping ? ATF change may only be a short term fix.

Replacing the transmission seems to have fixed it.

Ouch! I'm wondering if your trans had the correct fluid level from the factory...
How many miles and was the ATF ever changed on the original transmission?

    Just curious...

107k miles, never replaced the ATF. They said it had a hard shift between 4 and 5.

I sure hope it was not just a bad CV on the driveline and got a transmission out of you. :( I'm about to go in for 60k and have a similar vibration that appeared. Pretty sure it's the tires out of balance. We'll see.. Going to inspect the driveline my self before taken in so I can have a baseline of my observations a.k.a (crack or split cv boot, grease or loose drive line cv).

Yeaaah I am experiencing the exact same feeling. About 1,500 RPMs at 10-30mph, feels like if you shifted too early and bog in a manual. I am about 90% sure it's a driveline angle issue, bad driveshaft or CV. We'll see.
