AGM 31 Deep Cycle Battery

Good choice that's the one I have. Also put one in the wifes Forester too.

 

Haven't heard from @OZ-T about his Northstar 27F experience on either of the recent battery threads. I wonder how his is holding up?

Ordered this through Amazon in conjunction with my x2Power 27f AGM battery. If I happen to be near an outlet I’ll have the option to plug it in.

 

How long do you have to run the engine on idle to fully charge the battery?

 

That’s going to depend on the rate of discharge and your alternator output. You’ll also need to boost your alternator voltage as covered here:

Those with who have swapped the stock 3rd gen battery with a 27 or 31, are you periodically charging at home to ensure a full charge is received, or f-it? I was getting sold on moving to a Northstar 27 but have read that the stock alternator can’t charge to the level that the battery requires which means you are reducing the life of the battery and not getting full capacity. Seems like a pita to setup a trickle charger after every trip when you drain past full capacity.

Is there a deep cycle style battery out there which gets around this inherent limitation?
