I don't wear a helmet unless I'm hauling the mail offroad (it's always in the truck though) but I do wear a 5 point daily. It takes me about 5 seconds to put it on, and half a second to get out of. It is not an inconvenience, and even when going slow offroad keeps you from moving around in your seat. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but survivability increases with a cage and a harness.

KTM's have a history in racing and most of their motorcycles were designed for the Dakar and then were transformed into a production model (including both your 990 which is an evolution of the 950 which was run in the 2002-2004ish dakar's the 690 was developed for the Dakar when the engine limitations were tightened. This is mostly why other bikes beat the KTM's on the street for comfort while the KTM's knock the pants off of them on the dirt.

The Tacoma's origins are in a street truck which is then modified into a racing platform. Each use a very different design strategy, no to mention the heaps of extra regulations on 4-wheel cars/trucks making it required.

I wouldn't trust any car manufacturer's racing claim on a production vehicle; it's been used far to often as a marketing ploy to take more of people's money for usually not overly upgraded components.

Your idiocy is expanding at an astounding rate that is incomprehensible for mere mortals.

Everything on this thread you have said so far leads me to believe you don't really understand the function of safety items in todays modern cars that are for use on public roads?

Anything you say henceforth is null and void.

Ok, I'm out of this thread. This reminds me of why I shouldn't spend much time on this board. Too many liberals.

Drive into 3 1/2 feet of water. Your air bags won't work after you get the bottom of the passenger seat wet.

Hey, NASCAR is cool. Cram 45 cars onto an oval, run 400 miles and then on the last five laps watch for whichever idiot tries to outdrive his abilities and causes a 20-car pileup. And no airbags, by god.

My son is a crew chief with EMS here.. Yes I know everyone has a story.... There is always something else you could do to be safer. Not too many mothers or dads want a ugly ass roll cage in their car. There is a cost to return ratio to be considered when building a vehicle. Hell we could govern them all to 15 MPH and make them much safer. Nobody would by them though.

Would you like to drive one of those NASCAR cars? I would love to. They're not too shabby, anything that can top 200 MPH is OK with me.

C'mon, now OZ. Really? You wouldn't want to drive one of those machines? They're not as badass as F1, but those are pretty nice machines.
