I just bought an 04 Prerunner (to replace my 07 4x4), and I just noticed that the air vent left of the steering wheel blows air even when I put the switch to feet vents only. It is only that one vent that does it, the others all seem to be normal. What could be causing this?

    Thanks!

Those two corners (pass and drivers nearest window) will move air at all times... Even if the fan switch is to off. My 03 did it and my 05 does it too. Most if not all vehicles do it.

when the ac is off, put the direction on top vents only, and press circulate... it should not blow out at all

I just went out and checked and your right, the two corners blow air no matter what setting, including if on circulate, ac, heat, whatever. If the fan is turned off, and circulate is on I dont think they will, but any other setting they do. Is this normal? I have never had this in any of my other cars/trucks before, and they have all been Toyota.

I dunno whether or not it is normal, but it has been the case in every vehicle I have ever owned. And they were not all Toyotas. 2 Toyotas, 2 Nissans

Don't they have something to do with defrost for the driver and passenger windows? Maybe that's why they're always on... ?

Yes, you are correct. If a vehicle has the extra corner vents meant to just defrost, then this all the time corner vent running phenomenon won't happen. Many vehicles do in fact have those. In that case, none of the normal 4 vents would blow out any air
