in curious what you all think of this gap between the MAF and the air filter box. The MAF just rests inside the box and it doesn't quite want to seal all the way. Is it allowing air to get into the intake unfiltered?

In the photos below you can see the gap from the outside and the light coming in from the inside.

Thanks for your thoughts and help.

    ...it's probably ok
but could possibly be sandwiched a little tighter.

Body lift or something else (air box mount shift) causing that separation ?

Here's picture of just the MAF housing/assembly
so the ends of that can be visualized.

Left side is what resides in the air box...
    and shows the seal.

If the unit cannot be sandwiched (compressed)
more tightly or a new replacement seal seems too costly...

The gaps could likely be sealed up better using vinyl tape
or even a sensor safe silicone.

    I'd remove the upper tubing
and check to see if the MAF housing moves(shifts)
back and forth where it's mounted in the air box.

Little movement means the seal is likely still doing it's job.

Did you check the inside (MAF sensor and tubing)
to see if dirt has collected on the inside surface of the tubing
or if the MAF is getting dirty ?

Maf is fixed to the airbox with 2 bolts so it cant really be tightened any may. Looks like hes missing that seal.

Oh so there is a seal there.. hmm.. Mine definitely does not have one! I'll check a parts site to see what it costs. I suppose duct tape would work as well. Thanks for the replies.

    For others contemplating...

tho' duct tape is often considered a fix all for many things...
User's need realize that it does breakdown over time and will lose it's seal.
Because it's basically a woven cloth with some glue adhering the fibers
    and creating a temporary seal.
Great for a temporary fix maybe... but not an ideal long term solution/seal IMO.

So one should use viny-plastic tape or SS silicone instead.

But since you found it could be corrected, as it should be...
you won't be needing any bandaide fix.

    good for you.
