And that is why I have to defer to the experts on these forums! Sounds like your compressor is well protected.

I have had my compressor sieze due to lack of fluid/lubrication on an older car, but it was one of those antiques with eight cylinders and the boiling green kool aid tank up front.

Someone was more focused on eating a taco than building a taco.

You guys are confusing the "pink long life". The pink long life fluid is antifreeze.

We are talking air conditioning refrigerant here. These are 2 different things.

Dealer just wants to hook it back in, run a pressure test and be done with it.

If the AC system is exposed to air due to a broken line, the receiver dryer should be replaced, as it will absorb more moisture from the atmosphere and get saturated. At least that’s what I’ve been told. Compressor and other components should be fine.

Agree with dman100, if system was open to the atmosphere, I would at least want them to change out the dryer. That's a/c 101.

Make them change the dryer, it's like $12.

no dryer change - not sure why they would argue this since it's a cheap part - but the tech said since it had such low miles that it wasn't warranted. :(

I guess he doesn’t know what a dryer does. Ask him if he’d put brake fluid in a customer’s car from a can that’s been open since your truck has been without A/C.
