16g or 18g trim nailers yes but don’t for a minute imagine it will allow you to nail off sheets of plywood bump firing a framing gun. A few at a time with pauses to let it repressurize won’t cut it on a job site. Even a 16g trim nailer will challenge the output if you’re trying to nail off a room full of pieces previously tacked in place. They’re great to save weight, space, and limit noise but they are limited to low output situations. I’ll often use a CO2 bottle in those since it’s smaller, quieter, lighter, and more portable for working crown on a ladder.

I was pulling out the spare and lubricating the mechanism yesterday. Figured I would plug in my small compressor into the outlet to try it out. Was happily surprised that it started up and ran without issue. Not bad for $40 purchase from Canadian Tire. Unfortunately they don't sell them anymore.

I was going to build something like that using a viar compressor, mount it in a 30" tool box from tractor supply, wire in an old truck battery (34F size AGM) add a battery charger (solar/ 12v from the trailer harness) and an inverter. I then I decided it might be cheaper to tuck most of that stuff into the truck.

Yeah, that comment was trying to keep the thread from getting distracted like this:

I keep cheap little 12v compressors in the trunks of all our vehicles, have the huge one in the garage, and a tiny one for in between.

Actually, Viair actually makes a version of what I posted above. Just in a perm mount and a little more pricer. Think the part numbers are 380c, and 480c

I have a Home Depot HDX Pancake that actually fits in my Bed Tool box! Works great! Plugs right into bed outlet, only pulling 300 something watts, so it's fine

Hmmm. I wonder if the inverter is designed for driving inductive loads. Wattage isn't the whole story.

I plugged my Flux Capacitor in and the Inverter handled time travel no problem.

The prudent thing to do, is go back in time to when he has full factory warranty. Just in case he overloads the inverter.

I went 10 seconds into the future. I didn't want to over load the thing.

This is the smartest thing I think I have ever read!

You really don't want to go with 120v comp. It will involve way to much.
first of all compressor will start and stop during operation.not good
you want a constant run like the 12volt does.
only way I know to run what you want is with a generator
    now your talking more money.
to me the 12volt comp is great for tires.if you get a good one
they sell tanks you can mount in a lot of places

I've worked on units on tire trucks, gas and welding trucks
there all engine or PTO driven.Go with the 12 volt
