Back story. My AC died, the compressor seized up, I replaced all the components myself. The AC hasn't worked correctly since. I say hasn't worked correctly because the button won't operate the AC, but I can bypass the magnetic clutch (jump power) and it works. I know the magnetic clutch works, because I can operate it with wires and operate the AC by putting power to the side that's asking for it. The re circulation button doesn't work at all either. The fan, temperature controller and the hvac position knob work correctly. I replaced the unit with a brand new figuring that was the problem. The buttons light up when I push them, but don't actually turn the ac on or operate the re-circulation function.

Any one have any ideas on what could be wrong or how to diagnose them?

I'm pretty sure I've pulled and checked everyone at this point. Not ones in the cab, but not sure which one it would be at this point.

Id check the relay. I had to replace the clutch relay on a Lexus ES300. Was doing pretty much the same thing, except the light on the button would flash.

I was able to force the relay to fire with wires and touching the battery terminals. I can run the ac with wires through the relay this way.

Did you check the recirc doors to see if they actually don't operate? You can see them by pulling the glove box down, the doors are located directly over the cabin filter housing... it's just 2 butterfly doors.

Well it wasn't, then I plugged it in and it worked. Opps. The a.c.still doesn't though. Any ideas?

Are you sure you have the correct pressure in the AC Coolant. There is a pressure switch that will prevent operation if the pressure is low.

I had it checked and leak tested about a month ago. The repair shop couldn't figure out what was wrong and didn't end of charging me anything because of that. They left scratching their head. I'm bringing it to the Toyota dealer next week if I can't figure it out.
