    Old thread l know.
l'm a installer of a/m parts on vehicles. To clear up some questions, there are several real good "air condition" makers out there that l have used their products. These products have come a long way since coming to market. Some great quality nowadays.
As far as leather Katzkin makes covers that are specifically designed to use (perforated leather) with these air cooled seats,as well as a mesh that helps distribute the air that is under the cover.
l bought the first ones to come out (3" computer fans) which l thought was a joke but used them for 2 years without issue. When l bought them from the manufacturer l was told that you would not feel air blowing on your ass,but more like unnoticed comfort. They worked well and keep you from getting swamp butt.
lf anyone has any other questions, please feel free to ask

I have the Katzkin Degreez heated & vented seats in my Taco. A couple of thoughts:
    • Cooled seats need two things: (1) perforated leather and (2) different foam that allows air to pass through more efficiently
    • I love the seat fans and turn them on high every time I'm in my truck BUT I wish they did more. I'd love to have to turn them down cause I'm too cold ... and these aren't even close.
So I want to pipe the floor A/C vent up to the seat and see if that in combination with the butt & back fans will do it. Looks like nobody has done that so far - @4wheelslacker what do you think?

@4wheelslacker Do you have a diagram of where the fans are installed in the seat? I'd like to see where they get the supply air so I can channel some A/C up in there.

Ok, check it out. @jhuey8947 posted pics in the Katzkin thread showing the fan is about 2/3 the way up the seat back, then pipes it down from there.

So shouldn't I be able to route the air from under the seat up to that fan, which will then pipe it through the seat?

    FullSizeRender.jpg

I called the aftermarket shop that installed mine (through the dealer) and they said it's impossible. Sounds like motivation to me.

And technically you wouldnt need seat heaters, put the floor heater on high and crank those seat fans!

Good news: I figured it out. Forgot to post here, sorry.
It’s VERY effective, like 20° cooler. See post 79 in my build thread:

Does it only cool your bottom? Anyway to cool back as well? That’s where my biggest gripe about heat and leather is. I am contemplating degreez kit as i miss having cooled seats like my Sierra had.

The mod I figured out directs cold air into the seat bottom. I'm not sure where the seat back gets its air from and this does seem to help the back somewhat, but not as much as the bottom.

Now we're talking ... which model? The '18 IS just says it has ventilated seats, doesn't say cooled. I'd love to see something that gets so cold I have to turn it down.

I think I was driving a rc350 and it had them. My balls were nice and chilled. Very refreshing on a hot humid day. I know a bunch of models have them and I think the plantinum tundra has them too.

That's the great part, it doesn't go in the seat. This way you don't have to worry about sliding the seat forward-back and breaking the connection, cause there is none. It simply deflects the air directly into the seat fan intake, and the fan then shoots the A/C'd air right through the seat to cool you down.
