air conditioner light flashing

My AC stopped working. Now when it is cold, the AC light flashes. I have noticed that when the light is flashing, the engine lopes. Is my compressor dead?

 

The compressor has a sensor on the side of it. When the sensor detects that the compressor isn't turning at the speed it's supposed to turn at it flashes the light.

Compressor is probably toast.

I replaced mine last spring in just a few hours. If you don't have a way to vacuum down the system and charge it properly let a professional do it.
