    Hello all,
I wanted to run an annoyance by you regarding my 2023 TRD Sport. Every time i start the truck the AC starts in recirculation mode regardless of the mode i left it in the last time i drove.
Is there a way to stop the recirc default? As i mentioned it's just an annoyance and i set it to non recirc.
    Thanks

AC is way more efficient and effective in recirc.

I dont know how to stop it from switching.

Same goes for defrost in the opposite. Fresh only.

Thanks all. I checked and i am not using Auto on the climate control.
I guess it could be designed that way, not sure as to the efficiency thought, but rarely used recirc in my vehicles unless it was very hot out

Most new vehicles auto turn on recirc when the ac is turned on. Its easier to keep colder air cool than it is to cool warmer outside air.

It’s going to choose recirc pretty much all the time whether in auto or not. In auto it will switch to fresh air occasionally, I believe with it’s below 70F or something like that outside. The conditions are listed in the owner’s manual.

personally, I just use auto and choose the temp I like. Simple and works well.

Recirc is more efficient since the ac is not having to cool outside air continuously.

Do you leave the windows open at home with the A/C on?
Another advantage with recirc is to cut down the poor exhaust fumes such as diesel fumes.

Nice video about the topic. I started to get AC stink occasionally, I only run recirc for the first 5 mins or so, then turn it off. My smells have subsided over the last few weeks.

this is interesting. I turn my AC off before I turn the truck off. When I restart the truck, it does not automatically turn the air-conditioning on. When I restart mine it comes on in vent

The greater efficiency also comes from the lessened humidity.

Prepare yourself for water dripping on the passenger floor liner if you’re using fresh air mode for extended periods of time.

one thing a mechanic told me at the dealership was to make sure recirculate was on before turning the truck off. He said it shuts a flap that allows mice to get into the system.

I think I got this, yesterday I was playing around with the AC and everytime I restart the car it would turn on recirculation. This morning I play with it again and it did not. I play around with the temperature setting and find out that if the outside temperature is higher then the set temperature, recirculate will be on automatically & you need to turn it off manually. I know it’s more efficiency, but to me I don’t care about it. It’s just a bit annoying that’s all.

General rule is that if the outside is warmer than you want the inside, recirculation is best.

Set it and forget it. Adjust the temp to where you want it and let the truck do the rest.
The auto setting is smarter than most owners as this forum has taught me. The sheer number of people who live in hot/humid states and don’t understand the correlation between a/c and recirc (or use a/c with the windows down) is bonkers

Indeed. It’s also funny how many folks have auto and don’t even use it or maybe don’t understand it. I get in so many cars with others and the auto light is off and they’re constantly fidgeting with the fan speed and moving the temp back and forth the entire drive. It drives me nuts and I want to inform them but I don’t want to insult them in case they do know how to use and just choose not to.

Then of course you have those who think they know it all and immediately turn off AC when they switch to some form of heating mode so they can get hotter air, while fogging up their windows and wondering why.
