My air conditioner will not stay on. I turn it on and it turns back off. When I turn it on I get cold air until it turns itself back off.

I have tried it in auto and in manual mode. I drove for 20 minuets last night turning it on and watching it turn off. I changed vehicle settings and turned the auto ac setting off and still nothing. I have an appointment with Toyota but they cant get me in for 2 more days. Does anyone else have this same problem? Any suggestions?

Weird, maybe try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and resetting it? It'll reset your other settings as well, FYI. But if it's a computer issue maybe resetting it will help.

Anything short of that and I would just let the dealer worry about fixing it under your warranty.

How long does it stay on? IE how fast does it cycle?

Does it come back on on it's own at all, like after some time, or do you manually restart every time?

Auto AC (set a temp) or some dual unit controls? Or just regular AC controls?

That's common here in LA, at least at the dealership I go to. Service department is always swamped

Yep, just a simple 1%'er issue. Dealer should fix it up real quick with no hassle.

Hey, any update on this? My 2015 Tacoma is doing the same thing. Turn on the AC, blows cold for about 3 minutes and then turns off and blows warm air. I need to take her in for 20,000 miles soon anyways (I'm at 18,500) but would be helpful to know what they told you and if it was an easy fix!

Sounds like what happens when the refridgerent was over filled. There's a shut off switch to protect liquid 134a from entering the compressor and hydro locking it. It should be a gas by the time it hits the compressor.

I'm not sure what hvac setup is on the Tacoma but it could be an evaporator sensor acting up thinking the evaporator is freezing over or an intermittent high pressure sensor issue...

At least it's typically the same issues. You aren't the first person to have a defective AC in the 2016.

Will the system turn back on after about 15-20 after the truck has been shut off. Possibly a bad clutch. You could also check your low pressure switch. Bridge the connector when it acts up and see if the compressor engages. Possibly bad switch or low on Freon.
