today, i noticed that my AC was not blowing cold air when turned on. however, when i left it running, it eventually got cold. i waited about 1-2 minutes for it to get cold. any ideas what this could be?

I think I'm out of the warranty period (52k miles, purchased more than 3 years ago).

Tell that A/C to straight up and stop acting weird!

Were you moving or sitting still? What was your temp today?

I ran mine after the truck had been sitting in the sun yesterday (it was about 75 degrees and sunny) and while I was updating my check book it really didn't cool well, until I started rolling.

i was on the freeway when i noticed this. air temperatures are about 70F here. the truck wasn't baking in the sun. it feels like the AC compressor just didn't click on.

    Hmmm....

Have you checked for power at switch and wiring to compressor? Have you checked fuses?

Have you looked for any leaks? if it is leaking and starting to run low, the compressor will cycle quicker on and off and may stay off for a while if the freon is low.

i see. i'll check for leaks tomorrow. is there a certain color or fluid i should look for that indicates that freon is leaking?

i realized that when i turned on the AC, i was really getting on the gas to merge onto the freeway. maybe the compressor didn't like the high RPM's and doesn't engage as well. what do you guys think?

when i left work today, the AC worked fine. i turned it on when i was in park before i took off.
