Sometimes when the A/C is on max in my 2015 Taco, hot air begins blowing out and I look to see that the A/C button is flashing off and on. When I push the button to turn it off, then turn it back on, the A/C begins working again. This has happened 3 or 4 times in the past few weeks. It happened a few times on my 2005 Taco, when I had it.

Can someone please tell me what is going on here? Thanks

Possibly a bad magnetic clutch a/c relay which is located under the hood fuse box. Look for MG CLT and see if you can swap it for another similar one such as the "towing tail" or horn relay to test the a/c.You could also take that fuse out, curse at it while you gently tap it against the ground , reinstall to see it if that resolves the issue. Go with the 2nd option only if the first option proves that it's a bad relay.

LOL! I had the same thing happen to my camry. A/C flashing so I took out the fuse and tapped it against the ground. Reinstalled and it worked. Sometimes the relay may get stuck internally so I figured to try that before driving to buy a new one. Still working 6 mos later. Yeah, that's not covered in the service manual.

I could see tapping a stuck relay to loosen the mechanical contacts, but a fuse is just a link of metal ( no moving parts inside ). Trust me the fuse was not your problem.

    LOL

Hey TW .. 2015 owner here but trying to fix stepsons 2011 Sonata AC problems

Didn’t want to start a new thread

Yes I have googled , but don’t seem to find help with current problem

The air doesn’t come on for a while .. and when I search intermittent problems it’s all talks about things freezing up when it’s on and then it stops

Sometimes it comes on after 3-5 mins and sometimes it comes on after 30 mins . Sometimes not at all

When it comes on , it’s cold ..

    I recharged it last fall.

So it’s works, but not for a while

Is there some kind of relay problem ?

    Or any other suggestions

    Thanks for any help

How did you recharge it? Did a shop properly recharge it or did you use a suicide can?

Ahh, the lovely Hyundai/Kia no a/c issue....

I saw this while working on them, I wish I could help but I was not A/C certified so I was not allowed to touch it.

I do know that the fuse/main switch unit under the dash does fail on one system only quite regularly. That might be the issue.

Hade a Forte with a power draw...had to check every terminal and fuse in both engine and cabin boxes, was a constant power on in the cabin.

You might be experiencing the same. Ended up finding it by pulling the fuses one at a time to see which systems were affected.

The key was off and out of the lock cylinder yet the cabin fuse block did not shut off.

Sounds confusing......it was a last resort test.

Those cars have issues with switches and sensors also. 2011, it might still be under the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty....

    Hope this helps a bit.

Probably part of your problem. You need to start with the basics. Like making sure the system is properly evacuated and recharged with the PROPER amount.
