My just purchased 2025 OR hybrid has the damn dam? Now, I noticed at the dealer that their Max OR's all had the funking dam while the straight Iforces did not. Now my truck has the “cross model suspension kit +2.5” lift” is that why it’s on there? …oh, and my truck also has the trd front skid, of course you can’t see it because it's covered up by the dam.
Any thoughts on why it’s there, thought OR's came with no dam, and the drawbacks on removing it?

I can't say boo to your question, but........

I did read an article where a Toyota design engineer was quizzed about all the little aero- details that our Tacos abound in.
To the question of what detail might most benifit fuel economy, his comment was, "LOWER THE ENTIRE TRUCK"

An air dam is the second choice and approximation.

I fitted a front receiver hitch to my 2021, but put in the effort to cut and fit the air dam (spoiler) to refit.

But , I'm odd, I like the looks! ;-) No Viper cuts for me!

I heard removal of the airdam on the Max would void the warranty on the hybrid components.

My reservation on taking it off is that the non hybrid OR's (no air dams) on the lot also had the TRD front skids and I must say they looked like shit …almost like they were missing a bumper. The damn on my truck is coming off, I just want to know before hand what I have to deal with, if anything. I’m just hoping that it’s just a port installed mistake.

You will be giving up .07 mpg fleet average if you do!

With the massive lift and the dam the funking truck looks like a locomotive, or worse, a Chevy Silverado. Now the damn on my 22 Sr5 looks sturdy, engineered and is easy to look at. The dam on the new truck is flimsy as hell, looks terrible and is probably covering something undesirable up. :) …Obw, the OR's in the brochure do not have the dam. I asked the salesman about it yesterday …he had no clue as to why they were on the max's but not the standard OR's.

Looking at actual online on the ground pics at dealer websites, the 2025 off-road doesnt have an air dam installed....
    Is this a new thing?
Or am I mistaken, thought they all came with the snow plow.....

Am. I getting the dementia already...

Yeah, I’m wondering if it has something do with the trd lift or the installed trd skid or both. Again there were offroads at the lot with trd skids installed and they did not look good without dam ….like there were missing the front bumper. I’ll probably take it off this weekend to see ….hopefully everything behind the dam looks finished and blended.

My straight ole 25 off road hybrid came with the stupid air dam. As soon as I got home it was off and on the curb for trash pickup.

I don't think it looks out of place. I'd leave it.

Removing the airdam will make your truck less Japanese

But realistically the silly predator steps will destroy themselves off road well before the airdam does.

Don’t even get me started on the predator steps. Stock trucks, fine. But on a lift that makes my 22 Pro look like your pictured truck is counter intuitive. However, without those step my wife never gets into the truck for the all important test drive and we end up with another RDX for her daily driver, as it was she's been eye balling our Pro for her daily driver …but now I’m ok with that ;)

Other than the air dam thingy, the predator steps are a necessary evil at the moment, I really like the new truck. I like the drive train and the suspension is surprisingly good, the interior is nice and snug in a good way and I dig hearing that lil turbo spool up and down. Although the Pro looks like a mini truck next to the 25 it still gets the garage. :)

Toyota is claiming 22/24/23 city/highway/combined for hybrid motor and to achieve this they suggest that the air dam needs to be there.
