    Hello World!

Does anyone have experience with air filter wraps, specifically the one that K&N sells? Are they worth it and do they reduce air flow significantly?

Supposedly the wrap goes over your air filter and is intended to extend the service interval of the filter in dusty conditions without reducing air flow. Link:

I'm considering it because in my city any exposed surface will develop a layer of fine black dust before long.

    Thanks for your input!

Welcome to the community GillyMac, you'll learn a lot from here. Now, this drycharger you talk about... it looks like it is suited for a marine application. Just check your filter more often. If you have a dry filter, hold the filter at arm's length between your face and the sun, if the sun doesn't shine through the majority of the filter, then buy a new filter. If you use a K&N, from what I remember, when properly oiled they pick up finer particulates the longer between recharges (buildup). More knowledgeable people will chime in I'm sure.

I use them on my Jeep and dirt bikes as extra protection. Also just bought one for my Tacoma, filterwears brand since it came with aftermarket CAI. One benefit for road use is they are also water repellent, not proof, which aids in splashing puddles.
Could be snake oil, but I feel it hasn't hurt me any.

I used one on my cone air filter when I was running a rear mount turbo- a turbo where the rear muffler should be. It was great for repelling puddle splashes and a bit of extra filtering an air filter experienced in that location. Under the hood I really wouldn't bother unless it's extremely dusty and then only put it on during that time and remove it afterward. I do feel like it restricted the air a bit.
