    I was ATC in the tower. We had a radar approach control and jets were handed from Huntington control to us. We had one flight data strip that didn’t get filed.

    My dad was an F-111 pilot for 20 years. I had many happy years growing up around that community. But I was damn glad I didn't get the F111 when I joined.

    My folks are on their way to Wright Patterson for the dedication of a new memorial to the F111. I'm sad not being able to go with them. I'd love to check out the museum.

    ‘Thank you for your service Brother. I too enjoyed most of my 22.5 years military service. I retired in 1991. My Vietnam service was just tolerable however.

    Saw plenty of 111s from Lakenheath.

    So, you were there when Mildenhall had the SR-71.

    When Mildenhall had its runway resurfaced in 88 or 89, we got the 71 oven in Lakenheath for the summer, along with the KC-135s.

    When I returned from deployment in the UAE in 90' (Desert Shield) we had to land at Lakenheath due to strong winds at Mildenhall.
