Air Intake alternative

eBay has fake k&n intake for 100bucks.
I got Trd intake because it’s only intake are carb certified in CA

So I just installed mine and I am noticing that there is a little motor shake at times of turn on and under gas, so with this pipe being very tight fit are you guys concerned about wear and tear from that being so rigid and not moving like the stock accordion style ring. I might go with a bigger or longer silicone pipe gasket to remedy this. Anybody else see this as a problem??

 

Ya all engines will move around slightly when starting, revving the throttle or under load unless you are running solid motor mounts. I made sure the aluminum pipe/tube was about 1/4” shorter on both ends for a little wiggle room. when the rubber sleeves are installed you can’t notice. But yes if you wanted you could use something closer to the stock couplers for added movement. Your call

 

After about 6 weeks of waiting for the parts for my custom intake with zero communication from the supplier, I asked for an update (Motorwise.ca) and they basically just gave up and refunded me..idiots.

Ended up grabbing a K&N intake tube.. No Ragrets. Sounds mean at WOT.

 

And that's all this mod does.

I dealt with motorwise twice. Once I tried getting an intake tube, it said it would fit but it took them like 3 months to reply and refund me money saying it won’t fit. The second time was great experience, I got the Borla exhaust for awesome 790 and it came in about 2 weeks.

Regarding an intake, I got a trd filter, hps silicone tube, charcoal filter delete and air flow accelerator. Sounds great!

 

I've got the TRD intake. Does the charcoal filter delete make it sound any better just by doing that?

 

Yep. I have no illusions otherwise. I wanted a piece of cheese h der the hood, and I got what I wanted

How much time do you spend driving at WOT??

 

At least once or twice when I get behind the wheel. Well worth it.

 

I think a little bit, might be all in my head though. Dropping in the trd filter made it a bit louder for sure.

 

I have Trd intake exhaust, the throttle response make like it’s a complete different truck. Before intake and exhaust I have a alternative peddle commander.

 

How's this set up holding up for you guys who did it? Still liking it?
