I think if you want to do more than the single locker you need the dual compressor or at least a strong enough unit and a manifold.

What differential does the SR5 have?

I think the 8" but don't quote me. Arb make a single that they say " supposed" to run a single locker and has the ability to air up to a 33" tire. I really don't care how long it takes to air up. I can sit there for 5 mins a tire.

Cool. Then you just need a manifold or some plumbing...

I just carry a portable air station with me behind the seat... i'm not hard core off roading... figure a elocker would be a one and done setup.

I thought that also, but don't want to worry about refills. I'm still in the planning and saving money stage. So I'll be looking into a lot.

And from what I've read, the e lockers have slack in then when engaged. Not much though.

The CKMA12 single $300 compressor will run both no problem and even the cheaper locker activation one(I believe). When mine are charged the compressor doesn't run but I hear it's within tolerance if it kicks on every 5-10 minutes. You don't want to have a compressor that will pump more PSI than the lockers are designed to handle.

I screwed up and should've ordered the OR instead of the Sport. Lesson learned, although it was almost 4 years ago. :(

Although I did install a React Throttle Optimizer with a Crawl setting. Not nearly as cool as the factory OR stuff though.

I kick myself a bit for getting the SR model in 2wd. At the time it's what I needed when I bought it. Not feasible to get a 4wd now for me. I can however grab a locker and make what I have a bit better for when I'm on the beach cruising.

I haven’t found a need for a front locker and I’ve maximized the trucks capability without destroying it on trails. I can run everything up to around a 8/10 trail. Anything beyond that is just asking for damage, front locker or not.

That's exactly where i was. I had previously owned a 4wd and rarely used it. Then got out of that and had a car for a bit but then slowly realized i needed a truck again. This time i just figured i'd stick with something basic, SR5 was my choice for size and just needing to haul things every so often. But it was only a matter of time i got sucked into the overlanding scene and really was enjoying the truck. So the mod bug bit me. I have buyers remorse every so often but i really don't go offroading that much, but i like the idea of making the truck more capable over stock just as a JIC situation for snow or going offroad to hit a bike trail.

I built mine with ARB front and rear mainly for snow wheeling after seeing the difference between fully locked vehicles and open dif's.

I did look into E-Lockers and they were expensive and the reviews on them were not that great. 1,300 each vs 1,000 each parts only(excluding install). Even with a $300 compressor it's still more expensive if you do both. Plus now I have a compressor to fill up my tires after a wheeling trip. So far happy with the ARB's.

Question: The stock 2019 (other years I'm sure) Toyota Tacoma elocker turns off a bunch of stuff when engaged according to the owners manual. Is that really necessary for the air locker?

If factory do an E locker. If going aftermarket do the air lockers. If you’re tearing into the front anyway put the locker in. Plus you’re running them on separate switches. So run rear locked and then when footing in the front is sketchy switch on the front, go through obstacle. Switch off front and good to go. Best way to do it

You don’t have to turn anything off with the air lockers. You can run them in 2wd,4hi and 4low.

Do the factory ones allow you to engage in 4hi?

I don't think so. Will check manual later.

Yeah 4 LOW only and do not exceed 5 MPH.

I am headed to Mule Expedition Outfitters this very AM. Never been. Should be cool!!

BTW via email he said e-lockers not great. "We don't sell e-lockers as we are not fans of the Harrop design at all"
