depends on the airsoft gun really they vary from 180fps to 400fps, but they can also be dialed down , they are comparative to a paintball, airsoft games usually have a more realistic play style

Depends on velocity just like paintball. Less than paintball... more like a small pricking sting like a rubber band pop vs feeling like you got beaned with a golfball when hit by paintball.

I have played airsoft for years, and like has previously been said, alot of it has to do with the velocity of the airguns. In my opinion more has to do with the engangement distance. A 300 fps airsoft bb at 10' hurts just as much as a 550 fps shot from 100'.

Typically when playing with serious airsofters, full auto guns are in the 400 fps range and can engage out to 250' effectively. I have witnessed people lose teeth with a 275 fps airsoft rifle and have seen bleeding, welts, and minor tissues damage just about everytime I play! It always helps to wearing long sleeves, and typically serious airsofters will wear bdu's or the like. Glasses are always mandatory.

To answer your question, it can feel like a mosquito bite all the way to a freaking japanese hornet, and they usually come 10-20 shots a second with the best quality guns. Best way to find out is to stand about 30' away and let someone shoot you full auto in the ass for a second or two.

All the times I've played, it feels like your getting snapped with a rubber band. Welt's and bruising is par for the course, and bleeding, while not a regular occurrence, is known to happen. We have a few places to play around my town and they are all fun. Now that air soft prices are lower it's more manageable to get a group of people together to play a few games.

BTW I own 2 air soft guns (green gas) and I'm working on the wife to let me get a nice full auto assault rifle (electric).
