    Wait...

So a guy hit you from behind and went underneath your truck, and it made the front passenger airbag deploy?!?!

This is front a Rav 4 manual:

    Front airbags

●The SRS front airbags will deploy in the event of an impact that exceeds the set threshold level (the level of force corresponding to an approximately 12 - 18 mph [20 - 30 km/h] frontal collision with a fixed wall that does not move or deform). However, this threshold velocity will be considerably higher if the vehicle strikes an object, such as a parked vehicle or sign pole, which can move or deform on impact, or if the vehicle is involved in an underride collision (e.g. a collision in which the front of the vehicle “underrides”, or goes under, the bed of a truck, etc.).

●Depending on the type of collision, it is possible that only the seat belt pretensioners will activate.
●The SRS front passenger airbag will not activate if there is no passenger sitting in the front passenger seat. However, the front passenger airbag may deploy if luggage is put in the seat, even if the seat is unoccupied.

Side airbags and curtain shield airbags

●The SRS side airbags and SRS curtain shield airbags will deploy in the event of an impact that exceeds the set threshold level (the level of force corresponding to the impact force produced by an approximately 3300 lb. [1500 kg] vehicle colliding with the vehicle cabin from a direction perpendicular to the vehicle orientation at an approximate speed of 12 - 18 mph [20 - 30 km/h]) or vehicle rollover.
●The SRS side airbag on the passenger seat will not activate if there is no passenger sitting in the front passenger seat. However, the side airbag on the passenger seat may deploy if luggage is put in the seat, even if the seat is unoccupied.
●The SRS curtain shield airbags are designed to inflate when the passenger compartment is subjected to a severe impact from the side or vehicle rollover

    Different vehicle I know.

I think its worth having somebody else from Toyota look into the data from the black box to determine if everything deployed as it should or shouldn't have. I was always under the impression as well that the side curtain airbags only went off from side impact or roll-over :confused:

I've seen them go off in certain frontal impacts...

There is a ton more that goes into the algorithm than just XX miles per hour front collision...

OP give it up. I would buy it back and fix it myself.

I have a question here. I have a 2018 TRD off road Tacoma, it was involved in an accident that deployed all but one air bag. I bought it at an auction. The truck has been repaired by a friend, I have replaced all of the airbags, got the SRS module clear of codes by myairbag.com and the belt tensioner repaired. I replaced both of the front crash sensors ( just in case ) my question is: What else do I need to do before connecting the battery? I'm a diesel mechanic that works with yachts, there is not such thing as an airbag on a yacht ( as far as I know. ) . Thanks in advance for your help.

Not surprising. But I've definitely hit something harder and nothing happened.
