Hey new to the group. I just finished installing the x starter from Amazon on my 2021 tacoma. Everything works fine but after I started up the truck the air bag warning on the infotainment screen told me something is wrong with the airbag and now the air bag light stays on. I had to Un bolt the air bag to get to the wiring harness for the install. Basically what I'm asking is would moving the airbag during the install make the light go off and should a code reader be able to clear this problem.

I did not. I yes I know that was a dumb dumb move. But I also thought it was a good idea to go fight a war in Afghanistan so it wasn't the dumbest thing I ever did.

Always disconnect the negative battery cable when working with airbags. They're known for pop up surprises. I would disconnect the battery and recheck any wire clips or connections to the airbag. Also double check your install connections and make sure everything is tight. Then reconnect the battery.

Sometimes disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes and then reconnecting it will clear out codes and make them disappear for good. If the codes come back you've got a wire connection issue somewhere. If all else fails, auto parts store have obd2 scanners and can pull codes then you can google them for more info. OBD2 scanners can also be bought from Amazon for around $20.

If battery reset does not work, get ready to go to the dealership to have them reset it.

Had the same thing on my install. Somehow the air bag connection got knocked loose under the steering column. Check there first before going down the rabbit hole.

I'm assuming you removed the passenger airbag to get to get back to the DCM connector?
When the airbag is hanging down it can put tension on the wire. I was really careful not to let it tug on the connector. Like others have said, disconnect the negative battery terminal before troubleshooting. Probably unplugged or pulled a wire out of a connector.
