First time posting and appreciate any thoughts. Have an 06' Tacoma bought at salvage auction. Replaced driver airbag and seatbelt pretensioners, and had Safety Restore reset the computer. No SRS scan tool but I did the paper clip/obd trick and got the 3 codes 51,53,74. Spent too much money on new OEM clock spring and still have same codes. Got 2.4 ohms testing the passenger pretensioner and wires from computer plug to pretensioner have continuity.
My only thought here is that the computer was not properly repaired or maybe the new steering wheel airbag is bad. Not sure you can test the steering wheel airbag, but no visible issues with it. The diagnostic table also has "instrument panel wire" as possible issue for codes 51, 53, but i cant figure out what that wire is.
I'm assuming there was no airbag light prior to the front end collision, and research appears to be replace airbags, pretensioners and fix airbag computer and u should be good. Electrical is sooooooo frustrating.

That "wire" is the harness that plugs into the center airbag sensor assembly.

Thanks TnShooter. I will play around with this again tomorrow. I'm afraid this one may be above my pay grade to figure out, but i'll keep at it.

So I used the multimeter on what i believe is the D+ D- terminals and I have 3.5 ohms with the meter connected to both terminals. O ohms when I test each terminal individually to body ground. I saw prior posts questioning what is the "activation prevention mechanism," and i confirmed that is the tabs you need to stop from grounding in that instrument panel wire connector (big yellow plug going into airbag sensor assembly). I used the tip of a zip tie to stick in there and stop the connection. I saw something about using paper to shove in there and break connection but i needed something firmer.

So i'm guess the 3.5 ohms means i have a short somewhere and thus the codes 51 and 53. Not sure what i need to replace. I also worked on the code 74 issue which concerns the passenger side pretensioner. I don't find any short in the two wires going from the airbag sensor assembly plug to the pretensioner. I saw another posts where the pretensioner connector was damaged but my connector appears fine. Ohms seem to be in spec so no idea why have that code 74. I'm kinda at a loss. May plan a trip to the salvage yard and see if i can find a complete airbag sensor harness.
