Hi all I've owned my 04 prerunner for about 5 months and when I started her up tonight leaving work the airbag light came on for the first time and stayed on the whole ride home. My front passenger side seat is unbolted from the mounts. But there are no wires connected. Should I be worried

I've been in progress of swapping seats, the scions need more work than I expected, going to try 4runner seats. Bolting the stock seats back in for now

Take it to the dealer. Usually best to let them deal with SRS fault codes.

Most likely just a clock spring, but let the dealer check it out.

well, if you want to know what's wonrg with the SRS(airbag) system, you have to pull the error codes. YOu can do this with a SRS capable scan tool or by shorting the Tc and E1 pins together in the DIAGNOSIS port in the engine bay, near the intake. Diagram of pins is inside the cover when you flip it open. The light will blink in a pattern, telling you the code

My airbag light went on after a stall/failed-start/start sequence at a traffic light. Disconnecting battery overnight and clearing the codes did not clear the light.

I took it to a dealer, they ran through the troubleshooting procedure, which mostly involved a couple hours of unplugging and plugging the various components of the SRS system. That process must have reset something, as they found nothing wrong and the light went out. That was 10 years ago and have had no problems since.
