My airbag light is on and the passenger light reads off whether someone is sitting their or not. The seatbelt light also does not flash when someone is in their. Sensor went out maybe? I did a stereo headunit swap with a double din a few months back but never had an issue.

This may not be your problem, but I will throw it out there. I took my seats out once to put my covers on, and when I hopped back in I had the same problem. I was freaking out. Turns out, my dumb ass forgot to plug the sensors back in under the seat. Just a thought. Good luck!

well for whatever reason there has been alot of threads about this recently, it most likely the clock spring behing the steering wheel. its the wire that sends the message to the sir bag to deploy if need be.

so since its broken if you get in a wreck the airbag wont go off. go to the dealer and tell them your clock spring is broken they will tell you its like $300-$400 to fix.

this happened to me i told them eff that its standard safety equipment and that it should be fixed regardless if im not under warranty any more. they told me it cant be done i asked for the service managers card, the GM's card, and i told them to expect a call from the attorney general. they just laughed and i left. not even 2 min after i left they called and said they will fix it for free and when do i want to come in.

just stand your ground and get it fixed dont put up with the bs.

EDIT: forgot to mention that they will tell you only seat belts are covered. its bs make sure they fix it

Thanks, I just made an appointment with the dealer. Fortunately I have the extended warranty so I see no way they can avoid fixing it.

thats what i said. and seeing as how its the airbag system its not something i wanna fuck with.

but thats what the tech said.. only a connector on the seatbelt pretensioner.

i think it has to do with when your in an accident its a little charge and when the airbags are deployed this connector links the airbags and the seatbelt and sets off this charge, removing any slack and locking the seatbelt in place.

at least thats what my bro told me, makes sense to me so ill go with it.

that may not be your problem tho.

the charge goes through the clock spring behind the steering wheel, i guarantee thats what is broken. it seems to be the problem lately idk why?

but the clock sends the signal form the sensors on front bumper to the air bag, which then tells it to deploy/not deploy.
