Hi. Was there a fix for this. I just got a 95 Tacoma and the light is on. I don’t care about the airbag as long as I can get the light off.

    help please.

    Hello, welcome to tacoma world

well, if you don't care about fixing the airbag at all, what you can do is remove the bulb for the airbag light

Hoping to get a little additional info as I'm dealing with a similar situation. Read through everything here that seemed relevant, so here's the info on my truck that could be helpful.

    2002 V6
-Airbag light on since about a year ago, started with a fully loaded truck (two grown men passengers, canoe and kayak, and all our camping shit for a week) bouncing on rough Maine mud season roads. Light was cleared by shop to pass inspection, came back after a few weeks.
-Passenger crash sensor replaced by shop a few months ago, light came back after a few weeks
-Cruise control won't turn on (light goes on while the button is pushed but won't stay), been that way... for a long time.
    -Horn works fine
-Battery has been in for ~34k mi, ~4.5 years. Hasn't given me any trouble but I have felt it necessary to clean the posts more than once. Very possible that I (or the shop) have disconnected it with the keys in ACC/ON.

So-far-reasonably-trustworthy shop says it's the passenger airbag itself, part has to come from Toyota and will be ~$1100 before labor. They don't think it's the clockspring because of something indicating passenger side, which I presume has to be related to the code they're seeing. Haven't mentioned anything about the control unit.

My next step: planning to try and get the actual code and a second opinion from another shop (ideally not a stealership), and potentially ask them to clear it. Somewhat urgent as my inspection is due this month and this light is an automatic fail.

Anything else I should look into, or just suck it up and get the 'bag replaced?

Possible culprits right there. Bad battery connections or keys left ACC/ON. So before spending $1100 + labor on the truck try ruling that out...

For the keys left in the ignition, nothing you can do for that except clear the code and see if it comes back but before you clear it, check for bad or dirty battery posts (check the cables that connect to the posts, they can be bad and corroded too!), a bad battery ground and test for a bad battery

If they told you what the specific error code is, what is it?

If they didn't tell you, you can pull the error code yourself. You can do that via the DIAGNOSTICS terminal in the engine bay. Put the keys in the ACC or ON position and wait for 30 seconds then short the pins Tc and E1 (the diagram is on the inside of the cover when you flip it open)
The SRS light will blink in a pattern, telling you the code.

A bad battery, bad/dirty battery connections or ground and leaving the keys in the ACC/ON position while disconnecting the battery can all give issues like that. An error code may say that X is bad when in fact it is not the case at all (random error code triggered by incorrect voltage). Also, to clear the code you will need a SRS capable code reader

The fact they changed a seemingly bad crash sensor and the issue coming back but now it's the airbag makes me think it's a battery related issue

I just went through this situation/issue with my Subaru last week
Turning steering wheel sounded squeaky in certain places
    Cruise/horn worked
    AB lite on
    Once I connected/read flashes, explained
That multiple ABags needed to be RR-d and clock spring needed
    Car worth $2k(not buying $1k airbag(s)

    Replaced clock spring
    Reset system per diagnostic port
    Good to go

So here is a pix of a clock spring ribbon
Inside the ribbon there are wires
In my case(kinda like yours) horn/cruise ribbon wires in tact. The AB signal wire was compromised.
So we were lucky that CS partially failed

Clockspring issues can be tricky. Sometimes they are obvious (problem arises or goes away when turning the wheel a certain way) and sometimes they aren't. Good to know you fixed it with a new clockspring :)

The damage is the white spot, right? What kind of damage is it? Looks like it's internal as the white plastic layer is not worn through
Or it's an air bubble maybe? Did you test continuity in the affected wires?

Thanks for the responses. I went for a second opinion/inspection and they passed it with the light, so there's less urgency now, but I'd also like the passenger airbag to work if I needed it (and not go off when it shouldn't). They at least provided the codes.

I also had the battery checked and got the thumbs up, but I can't really say I was super confident in the AutoZone guy who tested it. The posts look clean, but the hold-down has some corrosion on it. I'll go back in and check the + wire next, but I'm probably still hosed if I can't get the code cleared...

Having an issue and I jumped the terminal under the hood like @onakat said. TC and E1 and followed the blinks of the airbag light. The blinks Im getting are 1 pause 4 pause 5 pause 4, so 1454. Idk where to find what this is.

I recently had a code 54 for the pass side bag and all it took was putting the key in the override and toggling it a few times. Fine since. I think your 1454 may be related but I am not certain. Give it a go.

Thanks Ive tired that a couple times. Ill prob have to pull the center panel off and see but Im not in the mood for that right now. Ill at least go out and switch the key back and forth a bunch of times and see if that cleans the connection. Ive been through this awhile back and got it to go away for a min messing with the back of that switch but it came back. Ill have to deep dive on it one day and continuity test it out.
