I recently took all of my seats out of my 2014 Tacoma to detail the truck. As I put the seats back in, connected the wire harnesses, reconnected the negative charge on the battery and started the truck up again the airbag light is stuck on in my dash. Also, the passenger seatbelt light is blinking but there is nothing on the seat and it says the passenger airbag is turned off. Any suggestions on how to reset the light or resolve this issue? Thanks!

    What code are you getting?

Some cheaper scan tools wont read airbag light codes. You can get Autozone to read it for you and give you a print out. I get a B1650 seat occupancy error but not often enough that i've done anything to fix it.

Have you tried dis/re-connecting the seat and couple times? Look for corrosion on them too....Good Luck!

More than likely you need to have the pass seat occupancy detect system recalibrated..

Generally airbag codes will not clear like engine codes once the problem is resolved. Typically they must be cleared via a scan tool. Unfortunately, most low to mid priced scanners will not communicate with the srs module.

To all who replied, thank you! The issue was resolved after the fifth time of disconnecting and reconnecting all wire harnesses.

airbag lights kick on any time a seat is disconnected

And stay on even after reconnecting

only thing that makes them go away is clear faults with a scan tool that can
I’m guessing a generic $30 OBD2 scanner wouldn’t. Never seen one able to do it. Usually just scans engine related stuff ie EPA-mandated OBD2 for emissions purposes.
