You're talking about the passenger airbag disable switch and the indicator light in that switch's assembly, right?

If so - NO. The switch's indicator light should turn off when you turn the key to the 'on' (enable passenger airbag) position.

Your airbag is potentially malfunctioning and will not deploy as long as that light is on. At my local dealership it costs $105 for diagnosis, and if any repair is actually necessary that goes toward the total.

At least that's what they told me when mine went on. Still haven't fixed it..
