Airbags and Airborne; a question. Looking for Jumping advise.

So to anyone who jumps their Tacoma, LT, MT, or not I was reading the owners manual, a dork yes I know, and it made mention jumping, landing, or hitting a ramp etc at speed could trigger the airbag and seatbelt squib system.

Has anyone who's gone airborne or even just pre-run hard and hit a solid bump ever had this issue?

Is there a way to more completely but temporarily disable the safety system aside from the RSCA button?

I feel like if you want to hit some sweet jumps then you’d want to cage your shit anyway.

Unplugging the airbags would “disable the system” no?

 

he also hit so hard that it bent a front quarter panel, broke a head light and donked the fuck out of his skid.... he hit SUPER hard.

 

Unplug jump and play, then plug back in afterwards. better safe than sorry.

 

They could certainly deploy. If the landing tricks the sensors into thinking you are crashing, then they could. Only certain way to be sure they don’t would be to disconnect them.

 

I set the airbag light off on my 4R smashing it into a rock hard going up a ledge, didn't deploy but the light is still on FWIW.

I've had all 4 corners of the ground on a few occasions, but the landing was always on a descent. No kaboom here.

 

There's this big bump in the road on my way to work I hit every morning I get a chance to at about 60mph and get some pretty good air. Even better when I take the hypermotard or the sumo to work.
