I noticed the other day that my airbox has finally failed. What led me to this discovery is that my MAF is acting funny. I have ordered a new airbox and taped up the joint where the tube meets the box. When I replace my box do I clean the MAF? I have heard mixed success with doing this? Also who knows how long I have been sucking dust into the motor. Is there a risk of the injectors clogging?

    I would clean the MAF.
Also I would recommend to repair the air box in the future with Spectre parts and add the Spectre MAF holder. There is a write up: Mine broke a couple of years ago right at the joint. Caused the engine to race and had unplanned acceleration. I had to stand on the brake and shift to neutral. The second time it happened the engine would die at a full stop or at less than 500rpm. Each time it broke I had previously done some high speed beach running and bottomed out hard numerous times. No problems since new suspension.

Also, duct tape makes a great temp repair.

I like that idea I will have to get me one of those .

I have had great luck With the plastic weld I converted the old style MAF to the new style cutting a broken air box apart and using the plastic weld

Pretty hard to get air into your injectors from the air intake

Thanks! Wish I had made this post before I ordered the new box. It is on it's way. Oh...well. That looks like it will last forever.
