Well I am no longer working on HH-60s. I am now working on CV-22s. It is a totally different beast than a helicopter, but it should be interesting. I moved from ACC to AFSOC, and now AFSOC is moving to the Mech/Tech model. I am a crew chief so in the helicopter world I have always worked on hydro and engines as well, but now AFSOC is making it official. You either work on the wires or the mechanics. It isn't a big deal for the crew chiefs, but I think it will be a shock to the system for hydro and especially engine guys.

I remember when the osprey worked out of the hanger next to us, we would all clear the ramp after hearing that they lost a rotor once, it was enough for us to get behind things lol

    Retired Navy AM1!

    My birds over 20 years:

EA-6A (Yes, I do mean the A model!)
    EA-7L
    ERA-3D
    EP-3E & J
    F/A-18A through D models.

Now doing depot rework on H-53 blades!

Love reading the "OORAH AIR FORCE" stuff....How can you tell when two USAF F-16's are getting ready to fly? There are 37 techs waiting on the flight line.

How can you tell when a USN F/A-18C is getting ready to fly? There's 2 troubleshooters, one Plane Captain, and a Chief waiting on the flight line.

    BA-dump bump.

"Yeah, sure, next time..." Navy guy

    ""I SAID NOW!" AF COP

"You see this? *simulates throwing a grenade* I just blew up your simulated fence, now bug off!"

    "Look, pal..."AF Cop

"No, YOU look! I'm a COMMANDER in the Navy, you need to close your mouth, get back in your truck, and GET THE HELL OFF MY FLIGHT LINE!" Skipper Jro.

LMFAO! Thats good shit right there. Stupid red lines. I got "jacked up" in tech school years ago for crossing the simulated red line. What a freaking joke.

Someone said about how the AF launches out planes. Depends on what jet. KC135s ....a specialist who launches and does the crew chief duties (b/c our crew chiefs are worthless) and a marshaller. Now JSTARS and RCs ....well shit they bring their whole AMU out for one jet.

I'm an F-16 / RQ-4 Global Hawk Avionics guy. Spent 8 years on F-16's before PCSing to Beale AFB, CA to work drones :frusty:. I'm currently a QA inspector for RQ-4 and U-2 "spy planes". Anybody else stationed here at Beale AFB?

You going north or south? Also, you might wanna start soaking your uniforms in scotch guard becaue any serious jet troup on a B-52 gets nasty as hell. Oh, and electricians are GODS when it comes to mx on these things....well at least most of us
