The step up to bypasses was huge in my opinion. Almost as big as when you upgrade to kings/fox/icon from stock coilovers. My problem is the rear end is not even close to keeping up with the front. i'll be taking care of that next year with a spring under kit and 16 inch bypasses :)

Been awhile since I added anything to this build thread. Been busy using it and now its time for some routine and unscheduled maintenance. Thought I'd show off a tool I fabbed up and had @Yotamac weld up for me. It's to remove the rear axle bearings. This job can be pretty expensive to have done by a shop...ask @Drainbung ;) The tool itself can cost anywhere from 200 to 350 bucks depending on where you get it. Well I have access to a lot of material and machines to fab up some of this shit on my own and a great friend who can weld. I also figured it was time to buy a press since there is so much you can do on your own if you have one. Picked up a HF 20 ton for about 150 bucks after the 20% off coupon. I got 2 rear axle housings and bearings from @RockAuto Went with Timken brand and the bearing housings that showed up had the exact same Koyo bearings inside that Toyota used originally so was pretty happy with that considering how much cheaper these were compared to what Toyota wants for them.
If you are in Socal and need any work done on your truck I suggest you hit up http://tacomapros.com Ze will take care of almost anything you want at prices that cant be beat!
    Now off to the pics!

    Here is the tool completed

Sweet, I still appreciate your input. When I took it into the shop the guy said, "so you're chasing lights by asking us to do this" and I told him NO, I know this is the problem. They called me a couple hours later saying the bearing is trashed. Well, NO SHIT... Not cheap at all, I had them do both sides since the RR was bad and it was just under 1K. Good on you for having the tool made!

Still fixing broken shit. Its a constant race chasing down all the places that need reinforcing. This time it was one of the studs that hold on the front bumper along with some cracked welds that hold the plate to the frame. The fix is to chop it off and put new thicker plate and larger size bolts that the bumper attaches too. I got the plates and hardware from Kore Offroad I could have done it myself but it was worth the 40 bucks to have it just ready to go.

The cracked plate that started all this

Did some more preventative mainteneace today. Changed out my inner tie rods, put on new wheel bearings that I pressed my OEM hubs into and changed out my LCA uniballs. I had one uniball where the bolt was stuck in the uniball. I was almost gonna head to my work and use the 100 ton press we have because my 20 ton wasn't gettin it done. I soaked it with PB blaster one more time let it sit for a bit while I removed a bolt that was stuck in my spindle came back to it for one last time and man when it let loose it was one hell of a bang...my wife came runnin into the garage thinkin I got hurt but all was well and I was happy to not have to make a trip to press it out. This press I bought has been one of the best tools to save money. I'm willing to bet ive saved over 1k since i have bought it.

So here are a few pics from today.

Tool I made to remove/install the nut on the wheel hub assembly

The most important part of this whole job...making sure the snap ring is installed properly.....ask @Jerez about this one ;)

Started my SUA install today. Pretty much took all day to disassemble everything and remove all the hangers. Holy crap is all I can say about getting the hangers off. It was an absolute work out. Heres some pics of my progress so far.

Well, we tacked on the hangers and fully welded the perches. Most of the time today was spent measuring...remeasuring and then measuring it again. Then convincing ourselves that it was ok to weld. Getting the pinion angle right was pretty easy but getting the axle set side to side was a chore. Its a bit of a pain to move 1/16 of an inch one way or the other to get it just right while making sure the springs hang down a dont move from where they naturally hang. Its one of those things you just gotta do it to see what a pain it is. But maybe im just to picky...who knows. Heres a few pics....of course I didnt get any when it was on its own wheels but tomorrow for sure.

Got the truck back on its wheels. Ran into an issue with the driveshaft. We knew going into this that the driveshaft would have to be shortened and a slip yoke added. But we heard from several places that you can still install the original driveshaft and drive it as long as you dont droop it out. Well it turns out that is not the case with my drive shaft. If we were able to put it on the output shaft would be fully slammed in the tranny at drive height and that will make some really bad things happen to your tranny. So we be taking the shaft to the driveline shop tomorrow to have it shortened and a slip yoke added. Now to the pics...

First off if you ever need driveline work in SoCal look up Inland Empire Drive line. I dropped off my driveshaft at 8am and had it back at 11am. They had to shorten it, add a slip yoke and swap out all the ujoints and carrier bearing and the price was more than fair IMO. So with that we didnt really get started working on anything till noon. Put the driveshaft in cleaned up a few things and headed over to @Yotamac place and get started on the cage. Well we got started and realized there was a must have tool we needed so we lost another 1 1/2 hours getting the tool. We drilled the bed for the fron of the cage and made the first set of uprights for the bedcage. Didnt get any pics of it but I will tomorrow....anyways here are a few pics from today
